Cardiovascular risk may be mainly associated with waist circumference in Tehranian women.

Scientists in Iran conducted a study "to compare the ability of waist circumference (WC), body mass index (BMI), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) and waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) to predict cardiovascular risk factors in an urban adult population of Tehranian women." They performed a "population-based cross-sectional study" in Tehran, the capital of Iran.

"This study was conducted on 5073 women aged 18-74 years, participants of the Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study," explained A. Esmaillzadeh and colleagues of the Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences....
