Generic Biotech Medicines Could Save Plan Sponsors and Patients $71 Billion

Generic biotech medicines could save U.S. plan sponsors and patients $71 billion over ten years, with $3.5 billion of the savings occurring the first year, according to a report issued by Express Scripts, one of the nation's largest managers of pharmacy benefit plans.

Savings for plan sponsors could amount to $1,900 in the first year for a multiple sclerosis patient with a therapy treatment that includes biotech medicines.
