Biotech firm granted patent for artificial antigen presenting cells

Androclus Therapeutics has been granted U.S. Patent No. 6,787,154, entitled, "Artificial Antigen Presenting Cells." This patent is an important addition to the company's revolutionary technology platform known as "T-Cell Capture" (TCC). Artificial antigen presenting cells, the structure of which closely resembles their physiologic equivalents, can induce T-cells to react in a physiologic fashion. This is achieved in an entirely artificial system, in which the composition and relative concentrations of the reagents are fully controllable.
