Report suggests critical care pharmaceuticals market peaks at $1.7 billion

The U.S. market for ethical pharmaceuticals in the critical care setting appears to have peaked at $1.7 billion in 2005 after an eight-year growth trend, according to Critical Care Pharmaceutical Markets: A Strategic Analysis, the latest market research from Kalorama Information.

Cost-containment efforts, including the increased substitution of generics for brand drugs, could actually cause a decline in the market, as critical care units do their part to curb overall hospital expenditures.
