Research on laparotomy described by scientists at Johns Hopkins University, Department of Surgery

A report, 'Trends in nontherapeutic laparotomy rates in patients undergoing surgical therapy for hepatic colorectal metastases,' is newly published data in Annals of Surgical Oncology. "Surgery is the treatment of choice in selected patients with hepatic colorectal metastases. Despite improvements in preoperative imaging, patients can undergo unnecessary nontherapeutic laparotomy," investigators in the United States report.
