Nasal Spray Approval Sought for Adolescents

Glaxo Wellcome Inc., Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, has applied to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for approval of Imitrex Nasal Spray for the acute treatment of migraine pain and associated symptoms in patients ages 12 and older. Both the FDA and the U.S. Congress have called on pharmaceutical companies to provide clinical data on medicines that have not previously been studied in children, but which might effectively treat diseases and conditions that often plague those under age 18.
