Study Compares Inhaled Corticosteroid to Leukotriene Modifier

Glaxo Wellcome's Flovent (fluticasone propionate) Inhalation Aerosol (44 mcg, two puffs twice daily), an inhaled corticosteroid, was shown to be significantly more effective than Singulair (montelukast, 10 mg once daily), a leukotriene modifier, at improving key measures of asthma control.

The study was presented at the Scientific Assembly of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) during September 2000. Glaxo Wellcome noted in a press release that it has the data on file, but did not indicate who conducted the study and under what financial circumstances.
