According to published research from Poland, "during replicative senescence either in vivo or in vitro," a growing "subpopulation of CD8+CD28- cells is observed".
To characterize this group of cells, A. Brzezinska and colleagues at the Polish Academy of Sciences "compared replicative senescence of T cells derived from mononuclear cells of peripheral blood (PBMC) of adults with those from cord blood (CBMC)," which did not yet contain CD8+CD28- cells.
