Plattner named head of research at anti-infectives pharmaceutical firm

Anacor Pharmaceuticals, an early-stage pharmaceutical company engaged in the discovery and development of novel anti-infectives for the treatment of serious infections caused by bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites, announced that Jacob J. Plattner, PhD, has joined the company as senior VP of Research and Development.

Plattner will focus on the continued development of technology initially created by Anacor Co-Founders Lucy Shapiro at Stanford University and Stephen Benkovic at Pennsylvania State University. Anacor is using this research base to develop drugs for relevant biowarfare pathogens such as anthrax and tularemia, hospital infections caused by staphylococcus...
