"The incidence of invasive fungal infections had risen dramatically during the past 2 decades. This phenomenon was due to recent advances in medical and surgical therapies (i.e., intensive anticancer therapy, aggressive surgical interventions, organ and bone marrow transplantations)," scientists writing in the Journal de Mycologie Medicale report.
