Taxotere improves survival in men with prostate cancer, studies show

Aventis (AVE) announced that results of two landmark phase III trials using Taxotere (docetaxel) Injection Concentrate based regimens in the treatment of androgen-independent (hormone-refractory) metastatic prostate cancer were presented at the plenary session of the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The clinical trials, TAX 327 and SWOG 9916, were led by investigators from the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center and the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG).
