Recombinant protein HIV vaccine candidate to be tested in clinical trials

Epimmune, Inc., (EPMN) announced that the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, a part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, holds an active investigational new drug application (IND) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to test Epimmune's multiepitope recombinant protein vaccine, EP-1043, as a component in vaccines designed to prevent HIV infection. The vaccine candidate will be evaluated in a multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled, dose-escalation, phase I clinical trial in healthy volunteers conducted by the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN).
