Recent studies add new data to diagnostics research

Investigators in Austria, Japan and France have published new diagnostics data. Study 1: Better non-invasive markers for chronic hepatitis C-related fibrosis are needed. "Liver biopsy is recommended before antiviral treatment, particularly for patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1 infection, but it may cause complications and is limited by sampling error.
