Angiogenesis is inhibited by thrombospondin targeting of type I collagen

According to recent research from the United States, type I collagen is a molecular target for inhibition of angiogenesis by endogenous thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1). "Three-dimensional explant cultures of muscle tissue were used to characterize secreted proteins regulated by endogenous levels of the angiogenesis modulator TSP-1," wrote L. Zhou and colleagues, U.S. National Cancer Institute.
