Study 1: Fluid extravasation in the heart was more effectively prevented with albumin than crystalloid or artificial colloid resuscitation fluids.
According to recent research published in the journal Anesthesiology, "Fluid extravasation may lead to myocardial edema and consequent reduction in ventricular function. Albumin is presumed to interact with the endothelial glycocalyx.
