New allergy in children study findings have been reported from Washington University

New investigation results, "Elective penicillin skin testing in a pediatric outpatient setting," are detailed in a study published in Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. "Adverse reactions associated with penicillin-type antibiotics are common in pediatric practice, leading to the subsequent unnecessary use of alternative antibiotics. IgE-mediated penicillin allergy represents only a fraction of these adverse reactions.
