Study results from Nihon University, Research Center update understanding of periapical periodontitis immunology

Research findings, "Involvement of inducible nitric oxide synthase and receptor for advanced glycation end products in periapical granulomas," are discussed in a new report. According to recent research from Tokyo, Japan, "We examined the presence of the receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) in periapical granulomas and analyzed the interaction between RAGE and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) to elucidate inflammatory reaction mechanisms. Periapical lesions were surgically removed from 37 patients with chronic periapical periodontitis and halved."
