Zhejiang University details research in pharmacology

A new study, "Transport characteristics of zolmitriptan in a human intestinal epithelial cell line Caco-2," is now available. "The intestinal absorption characteristics and the efflux mechanisms of zolmitriptan, a new generation and highly selective 5-HT(1B/1D) receptor agonist used in the acute oral treatment of migraine, were investigated. A human intestinal cell line, Caco-2, was used as an in-vitro model of the intestinal mucosa to assess transepithelial transport of zolmitriptan," scientists writing in the Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology report.
