Expiry of Hart-Scott-Rodino Waiting Period for JUVISTA (Human TGF BETA 3)

Shire plc (LSE: SHP, NASDAQ: SHPGY, TSX: SHQ), the global specialty biopharmaceutical company, announces that the waiting period under Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 with respect to its exclusive license of JUVISTA(R) (human TGF BETA 3) from Renovo Group plc (LSE: RNVO) expired on August 10, 2007. In accordance with its terms, the License Agreement became effective on August 15, 2007. JUVISTA is a novel biopharmaceutical investigational drug and when injected at the time of surgery has been shown in clinical trials to markedly improve subsequent scar appearance in the skin.
