Study results from Kumamoto University, Department of Pediatrics update understanding of pain research

2010 DEC 17 -- Current study results from the report, 'Nerve growth factor, pain, itch and inflammation: lessons from congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis,' have been published. According to a study from Honjo, Japan, "NGF is a well-known neurotrophic factor essential for the survival and maintenance of primary afferent neurons and sympathetic neurons. NGF is also an inflammatory mediator associated with pain and itch."
