Reports Outline Critical Illness Study Results from University of Toronto, Department of Surgery

2011 JAN 21 -- Research findings, 'Critical illness is an iatrogenic disorder,' are discussed in a new report. "Iatrogenic illnesses are those that arise as a result of the process of medical care and are potentially preventable by improvements to patient care. The term is commonly used to denote medical error; however, for the critically ill patient the term has a much more fundamental meaning," scientists writing in the journal Critical Care Medicine report.
