New Findings from University of Wisconsin in the Area of Retinal Neurons Published

2011 JUN 24 -- "The sigma-1 receptor (sigma R1), a ligand-operated chaperone, has been inferred to be neuroprotective in previous studies using sigma R1 ligands. The sigma R1 specificity of the protective function, however, has yet to be firmly established, due to the existence of non-sigma R1 targets of the ligands," investigators in Madison, United States report.
