Research Results from Shizuoka Cancer Center Update Understanding of Pancreatic Cancer

2012 JAN 6 -- Investigators publish new data in the report "Autoimmune pancreatitis with response to chemoradiation therapy." According to the authors of a study from Shizuoka, Japan, "Autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) sometimes mimics pancreatic cancer, and is rarely resected under this misdiagnosis. However, there is no report in the literature regarding a case of AIP, which was misdiagnosed as an inoperative stage of pancreatic cancer and which received systemic chemotherapy with or without radiation."
