Hong and colleagues, Taipei Veterans General Hospital, wrote, "Given the implications with respect to the pathogenesis of dopaminergic dysfunction in schizophrenia and PD, as well as the reciprocal antagonistic interactions between adenosine A2a receptor (A2aAR) and the dopamine D2 receptors, A2aAR may be a candidate gene conferring susceptibility to PD or schizophrenia."
