Results reported of Phase II interleukin-2, granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating study

A phase II study of moderate dose interleukin-2 and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor in patients with metastatic or unresectable renal cell carcinoma was not effective.

"Interleukin-2 (IL-2) has been shown to produce durable complete remission in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC). A phase II study was conducted to evaluate the potential therapeutic synergy as well as the toxic side effects of the concurrent administration of IL-2 and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) in patients with advanced stage disease," scientists writing in the Journal of Immunotherapy reported.
