St. Francis Hospital settles vaccine fraud case

St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut, has agreed to pay nearly $300,000 to resolve allegations that it billed the government for childhood vaccines the hospital received for free, state and federal officials said February 14, 2005.

Under the civil settlement, the Hartford-based hospital will pay $299,364 to the state and federal governments, state and federal officials announced. St. Francis will pay another $6,000 to reimburse private insurance companies billed by the hospital for free vaccines.
