Identification device for surgical safety introduced in healthcare industry

AMTSystems, a provider of automatic identification solutions in the healthcare industry, announced pilot programs for Surgichip, an RFID (radio frequency identification) verification system approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help prevent errors during surgeries

Surgichip was conceived by an orthopedic surgeon, Bruce Waxman, MD. The surgeon's idea to prevent wrong-patient, wrong-procedure and wrong-site surgeries. It was developed by AMTSystems and Zebra Technologies (ZBRA), a provider of on-demand printing systems for business.
