Heygood, Orr, Reyes & Bartolomei: First Federal Fentanyl Patch Trial Begins in Florida

A Florida jury will be the first federal court panel in the nation to hear evidence against subsidiaries of pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) in a wrongful death lawsuit involving the narcotic painkiller fentanyl.

The family of 28-year-old Adam Hendelson of West Palm Beach, Fla., is suing Janssen Pharmaceutica Products, LP, and ALZA Corp. over Mr. Hendelson's death on Dec. 17, 2003. Both companies are subsidiaries of New Brunswick, N.J.-based Johnson & Johnson.

Mr. Hendelson, who was found dead at his computer, had suffered chronic hip pain as a result of an automobile accident in his teens, and wore a Duragesic(R) patch on his right...
