FDA clears IND for Exherin

Adherex Technologies, Inc., (AHX) announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared its Investigational New Drug (IND) application for Exherin, the company's lead cadherin antagonist, tumor vascular targeting compound; this means the company is able to commence a U.S.-based, phase I clinical trial of Exherin.

The study will take place under the direction of David J. Stewart, MD, professor in the Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
