Inhibitors of Hedgehog signaling pathway block growth of prostate cancer cells

Curis, Inc., (CRIS) announced that the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA contains a report demonstrating that inhibition of Hedgehog signaling pathway can block the growth of certain prostate cancer cell lines and primary tumor cultures. The authors suggest that drug candidates based on Hedgehog pathway inhibition may "provide attractive therapeutic strategies to combat prostate cancer of any grade."
