Boston Scientific stent regains market share, despite August sales

Boston Scientific Corp. on September 1, 2004, said sales of its new drug-coated heart stent are regaining momentum after a safety-related recall hurt sales in July and August. Boston Scientific also said federal regulators told the company no further action is needed related to the recall. The company's shares rose more than 7% on September 1, 2004, even though the company also issued an earnings forecast just below Wall Street's estimate. Boston Scientific said its Taxus stent had regained about a 70% share of the U.S. market for drug-coated stents, roughly the same level the stent commanded before the Natick-based company's initial recall...
