Officials say health contract was renewed in midst of jail deaths

Gaston County, North Carolina, officials renewed the county jail's contract with a Tennessee-based private healthcare provider between a pair of inmate deaths. Both inmates, Yolanda Evett Patterson and Hugh Locklear Jr., died last month after complaining of illness. In both cases, family members have said jail officials ignored requests for treatment. Prison Health Services of Brentwood, Tennessee, has come under fire in other states.
