Researchers' work adds to liver cancer body of knowledge

Liver cancer data are the focus of recent research from , Japan and the People's Republic of China.

Study 1: Serological markers of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been determined.

"Serological markers for HCC are important for early diagnosis, as well as monitoring of tumor aggressiveness, treatment responsiveness, recurrence and survival. The three most common markers are total alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), Lens culinaris agglutinin-reactive AFP (AFP-L3) and protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonist-II (PIVKA-II).
