New investigation results, 'Can biochemical markers serve as surrogates for imaging in knee osteoarthritis,' are detailed in a study published in Arthritis and Rheumatism. "Osteoarthritis (OA) is a complex heterogeneous joint disease affecting more than 35 million people worldwide. The current gold standard diagnostic investigation is the plain radiograph, which lacks sensitivity," scientists writing in the journal Arthritis and Rheumatism report.
