Researchers from City Hospital describe findings in colostomy

Scientists discuss in 'Correction of end colostomy prolapse using a curved surgical stapler, performed under sedation' new findings in colostomy. According to recent research published in the journal Techniques In Coloproctology, "Acute stoma prolapse most commonly occurs following emergency surgery, frequently in patients with significant medical co-morbidities. Correction often requires re-laparotomy and resiting of the stoma, placing an already frail patient at risk of further morbidity."
