Study Looks at Factor That May Reverse Leukemia

According to a study by Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee, the key to gene therapy for at least two forms of leukemia may lie in the mechanics of a natural carcinogen in our cells, said one researcher.

Dr. Lawrence D. Kerr, assistant professor of Microbiology and Immunology and Cell Biology, believes the multi-protein complex Nuclear Factor kappa-B (NF-kB), a ubiquitous transcription factor found in each cell of the human body, has the power to cause and the potential to reverse certain cancers.
