The understanding of hematopoiesis recently has been furthered by the identification of antigens that characterize human primitive hematopoietic progenitor cells in addition to the continued identification of hematopoietic growth factors that enhance the proliferation and maturation in vivo of human primitive hematopoietic progenitor cells, the researchers noted.
