Previous research has shown that while immunoliposomes are effective in specific binding to target cells in vitro, their in vivo targeting efficiency is relatively low. Researchers have determined that highly efficient target binding and a relatively low level of reticuloendothelial system (RES) uptake of the immunoliposomes are mutually exclusive.
