"Construction of a Retrovirus Vector Which Confers Both Augmented Resistance to Methotrexate and Sensitivity to 6-Thioxanthine."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 31st Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, held May 20-23, 1995, in Los Angeles, California, "We previously reported that a retrovirus vector, DC/SVhDHFR S31, containing a mutated dihydrofolate reductase (0HFR) cDNA, was able to confer MTX resistance to mouse and human hematopoietic progenitor cells (Blood 83:3403, and in press). We replaced the Neo-r gene of this vector with xanthine-guanine phosphoribosyl transferase (XGPRT) to construct a vector which expresses both XGPRT and mutated DHFR Ser31.
