Eliminating Factors Necessary for Tumor Growth Stimulates Rejection

An alternative approach to cancer therapy suggests eliminating host factors necessary for aggressive tumor growth.

During the course of cancer research, it has been noted that some tumors will regress spontaneously. It is thought that the hosts immune system is able to inhibit the tumors growth and eventually destroy it, hence the influx of research to stimulate the immune system against cancers.

In most cases, the immune system is not able to inhibit tumor growth. A question arises as to whether the immune system is not being stimulated strongly enough, or is the tumor actually receiving additional encouragement by the host.
