Natural Body Substance Can Counter Cancer Gene

Research sponsored by Hyal Pharmaceutical Corp., Toronto, Ontario, Canada, has uncovered strong evidence that hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural substance in the human body, can prevent a cancer-causing gene from creating tumors.

The study was reported in the July 14, 1995, issue of the scientific journal Cell.

The research, conducted by Dr. Eva Turley at the Manitoba Institute of Cell Biology, has produced evidence that when HA is directed to ras, the gene suspected of causing 20-30 percent of all cancers, ras is prevented from mutating and starting the tumor-making process.
