Stem cells have been genetically engineered with tumor-specific receptors and successfully transplanted in mice where they produce a variety of immune cells that selectively and efficiently destroy cancer cells. The work was carried out by a team of scientists at Cell Genesys led by Margo Roberts, Ph.D. and was reported at the American Society of Hematology annual meeting, held in Seattle, Washington.
