According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 46th Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, held November 3-7, 1995, in Chicago, Illinois, "Hepatitis B (HB) vaccination provides protection against an HB infection in more than 90% of the vaccinees. However, it is unknown how long protection and immunity to HB last after vaccination with recombinant HB vaccine. Methods: To investigate the long-term immunity, we assembled 270 employees from 4 health care institutions who only received a primary vaccination series with recombinant HB vaccine in 1987-1989 and responded with an anti-HBs titer >10 IU/L.
