"Construction of an Efficient Shuttle Phagemid Vector and Expression of a Recombinant 21k M. Paratuberculosis Antigen in M. Smegmatis."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 96th General Meeting of the American Society for Microbiology, held may 19-23, 1996, in New Orleans, Louisiana, "Expression of recombinant mycobacterial genes in a homologous host is advantageous because it permits genus-specific post-translational modifications which may be important as immunomodulatory components. In this report, we describe the construction of a 6384 bp chimeric shuttle phagemid vector pNEZ6.3 that contains the origin of replication of pBR322, the origin of replication of pAL5000, the f1 origin for rescue ssDNA, the T7 and Sp6 bacteriophage promoters, a kanamycin resistance gene and two multiple cloning sites. ...
