Stat4 Reported To Control Immune System Response

Tularik Inc., South San Francisco, California, announced that researchers at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Tularik have established an essential role for the Stat4 gene in controlling immune responses.

The Stat4 gene encodes a specific protein from a recently identified family of signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) proteins. The researchers' findings were published in the July 11, 1996, issue of Nature.
