Immunotherapy Possible with Particle-Mediated Cytokine Gene Transfer

Local cytokine delivery to oral mucosal tissue and epidermis is possible with particle-mediated gene delivery.

Vaccination sites such as the epidermis and oral mucosa have immune effector cells that are unique to their respective anatomic location. Cytokines have been demonstrated to have an immunostimulatory effect on these cells, and as such, may be exploited to enhance vaccine and antitumor responses.
