Adenoviral-Mediated Antisense Gene Therapy Exhibits Antitumor Effects In Vivo

Inhibition of insulin-like growth factor I receptor (IGF-Ir) via an adenoviral-mediated transfection of antisense IGF-Ir shows an antitumor effect in vivo.

IGFs are important mitogens in several cancers and enhance tumor formation, growth and metastasis. Several recent studies have established the roles of IGF-I and IGF-Ir by utilizing antisense technology to inhibit their expression (M. Resnicoff et al., Cancer Res., 1994;54:2218-22).
