"Characterization of Hepatitis C Virus ns5B Protein (RNA Polymerase) Expressed in the Baculovirus System."

Published in Gene Therapy Weekly, November 4th, 1996

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 15th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Virology, held July 13-17, 1996, in Ontario, Canada, "Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is the major cause of post-transfusion, non-A, non-B hepatitis. One of the viral nonstructural proteins, ns5B, is a putative RNA polymerase, which is likely important for viral RNA replication. To investigate the properties and function of this protein, we have expressed the ns5B protein using the baculovirus system. The nature of the expressed protein was confirmed by its reactivity with human HCV patient sera. Using this protein, we have successfully made a rabbit anti-5B antibody. Time course...
