"High Efficiency Adenovirus-Mediated Gene Transfer into Human CD34+ Hematopoietic Cells."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Fifth International Conference on Gene Therapy of Cancer, held November 14-16, 1996, in San Diego, California, "We have found that adenoviruses are promising gene therapy vehicles for CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells. Human bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMNC) and enriched CD34+ cells (isolated on CellPro immunoaffinity columns or Miltenyi MiniMac columns) were transducted at a multiplicity of infection (moi) of 5-500:1 with an adenovirus vector encoding E. coli (beta)-galactosidase sequence (Ad/(beta)-gal) or p53 (Ad/p53).
