"Successful Retroviral Mediated Transduction of a Reporter Gene in Human Dendritic Cells: Feasibility of Therapy with Gene-Modified Antigen Presenting Cells."

According to the authors' abstract of an article published in Experimental Hematology, "In this study we have analyzed the feasibility of gene transfer in human dendritic cells (DCs). DCs were generated from T and B cell-depleted peripheral blood mononuclear cells cultured for 7 days in the presence of granulocyte/macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and interleukin-4 (IL-4). The cells showed morphologic and immunophenotypical features typical of DCs, including expression of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I and II molecules, CD1a, CD80, CD86, CD13, CD33, CD40, and CD54.
